Which quail would you recommend for training a dog to point BW or coturnix?
Will a dog trained on coturnix point bw's?

I train my dogs with BW but that is because that is what I raise. The issue with bw's I have had in the past is getting some that fly good. Birds that don't fly don't make for very good training. Most of the guys that I know that train any kind of pointing dog for a living use chukar. They fly much better than quail and they can clear a pretty good size field if the dog flushes it. I am by no means an expert at dog training but if you have a pup, I would get some chukar to start with until your pup becomes more steady and doesn't want to chase of catch the bird.
