The Tenn. Red is nothing more than a color phase of the eastern bobwhite. The were orginally propagated from wild birds live trapped on the Ames Plantation in w TN in the early 1920's. The entire story of these birds can be found in Herb Stoddard's classic "The Bobwhite Quail", or in the Nash Buckingham/Wm Brown's "National Bird Dog Champions 1896-1955, and in other more recent life histories of the Bobwhite. Wild populations have been found with normal colored bobs in Indiana, Tennesee, NJ and elsewhere.
