Show them to your wife. Over time she may forgive you for cutting down priceless trees !

That's why you may want to plant hops. You clear them out to the ground each fall, after they freeze. The next spring they'll grow fast and by the time it's warm/hot they'll provide good cover.

A Cedar "hedge" inside will provide year round cover. Plant them away from the entrance door. The birds will use this cover to keep away from you when you enter the run, and stay more calm.

No and no.

However, most will "tame" enough to hand feed treats.

  Where, in Mo., are you?

There really isn't much pain involved (this may be slightly different in more urban counties).  The permit you would likely want is either $10, or $20, and allows up to 50 birds.  That is in addition to your ornamentals, of course.  The game breeder's license is $50, and would allow you to sell any excess birds.  One thing to keep in mind is that the license year is July 1st through June 30th, the following year.

There is a fellow down here who had a few ornamentals, for sale, last year.  Not sure what all, but Red Goldens, for sure.
