My wife is a psychologist....she knows all the tricks in the book.  I have to sit around wondering when I'm being manipulated

Hey foz,
On your double decker breeder pens, what do you use for a dropping tray...you cant just let the droppings fall down on top of the other birds can you? And what are the dememnsions for those pens?

I'm not for sure which pens you are asking about...are they outside or inside?

If they are outside, I have a couple double decked pens in the picture title overview that are solid bottomed for my hun pairs.  I used pine shavings in the bottom that allows for them to dust themselves.

If they are insided and title grow out pens, these are wire bottom pens and the droppings fall onto the solid board that is the roof of the layer below it.   These are triple decked.   I use a shortened garden hoe to rake the dropping off.

Hope I answered your question ???

This is the one I built last year using Frank Allens idea

I used staples for the floor... but in the Fall of last year some neighbor dogs used their paws (German Shepard & Boxer) to pop the floor up... Quail flew out & got eaten.

I have repaird the floor using 1" dia Washers & screws every foot apart.

It will be much harder for them to concentrate on busting through the floor while I'm shooting at them with a BB Gun.

Countryboy, that's the same thing that happened to my quail, only it was my dog who dug through the floor and released the quail.  He's too stupid to have caught any to eat but they got away anyway.
