i am a first time quail raiser  and plan on releasing the birds at 6 to 8 weeks of age on my farm.how big should my brooder and grow out pen be?i plan on raising 100 bobwhite at a time.any other tips are welcome.

i would give them at least 1/2 sq foot per bird

I think the 1/2 sq ft would be ok for the brooder but would recommend 2 sq ft per bird for the grow out pens.
Here in Michigan the DNR requires 2 sq ft per bird.
Will help to control cannibalisim.

thanks for the help.i am going to pick up birds next week.is 6 to 8 weeks of age too young to release?i want some strong flying birds to hunt and train dogs over.tired of 20 to 30 yard flights from birds that you hit with a sling shot.thanks again.

I release mine at 5 weeks. Have had a great survival rate thus far.
