I'm new to this incubation stuff so I have been trying to get as much info off this forum and from the Internet on hatching & raising cortinix quail.  I guess I got lucky cause on day 17 all 20 of the eggs I had hatched.  I have them in a box with heat lamp & all seem to be doing fine the question is how long do they need to stay with a heat lamp before mooving them to some type of cage?

First week at 95f then drop 5 degrees a week till it matches ambient temps. You may still need heat at night for a while as well.
Area should be large enough for them to get out from under the heat.
The birds will "tell you" if the temps are wrong. If they are trying to get away from the heat, it is too hot.
If they pile up under the heat lamp, it is too cold.

Were these eggs from your birds or shipped eggs?

. I won 6 quail at an auction, I was getting 3 eggs per day but now am down to 1 not sure why the other 2 hens stoped laying.   this was my first hatching so I was not sure what to expect.  I'm going to try ordering some eggs & see what happens with them next

Shipped eggs generally have a lower hatch rate.  I'm expecting an order of 500 eggs right now.   I certainly don't expect a 100% hatch rate, but I'd be happy with 50%.  :xing:

My quail do that to, for a while I will get 5 to 6 then all of a sudden for a couple days I only get 2 or 3. I have 8 females and 3 males, I have never had all my females lay though. I have one female that will sit on the eggs though and she will not move till I get almost close enough to pet her then she takes off but always stands in the door and keeps an eye on me,LOL. That is great that they all hatched are they still doing well?
