quail man,
i have my breeders (Coturnix Quails) on a poultry layer pellet feed and their doing great on it, 4 eggs so far. The feed i'm using has everything that the hens need for laying even calcium but i would provide a little extra on the side in case they need extra. Hope this helps!! j2

well the chicken feed would be better then the wild bird feed. I would stay away from the wild bird feed as the main feed period.

Im sure you've read around here and know that a high protein feed is recommended. Gamebird feed. Then can supliment calcium with crushed oyster shell.

Akira is TOTALLY correct about the gamebird feed and the protein. The gamebirds and chickens only have a few likenesses. 1)they eat alot. 2) they chit alot. People think a bird is a bird and you can't compare anything to gamebirds. They need HIGH protein especially the coturnix you don't give them hardly anything but gamebird starter (28%-30%) I KNOW what it takes to get good, big, and healthy birds and chicken feed is better than feeding them NOTHING but thats IT. you will see a big differance If you feed higher protei n 22%-24% is low enuff for coturnix and 20% for bobs. Thanks, and GOD BLESS, Tommy
