How long should bobwhite quail stay in a brooder and what should the temp be?

ANDY,
 I KEEP MY QUAIL CHICKS (7 KINDS) IN THE BROODERS TILL THEY ARE 6 WEEKS OLD. WHEN THEY FIRST GO IN THE BROODER I HAVE THE TEMP AT 95*
I LOWER IT 5* EACH WEEK TILL IT IS ABOUT THE SAME AS THE OUTSIDE TEMP.

GQF says for the first week the brooder temp should be 99.5 to 100 degrees (same as incubator) then decrease the temo 5 degrees each week. I keep mine in for a minimum of 4 weeks but once you brooder temp gets to be the average outside temp then you can take them out.

what if day temp is has big difference then night time should a light be used at night

You should keep a light in the grow out pen for them to have axcess to for awhile.

Some people will tell u to keep a light in the grow out pen but I don't think its necessary. I keep mine in the brooder between 4-6 weeks then i move them outside. It gets down to about the high 30 degrees. The birds are always fine. If you only have a handful of birds keep them in the broooder longer. If you have a lot, they will keep eachother warm.

Yea that is true. It varies for everyone. I dont know about the extreme temperature change cause the temp here usually stays the same. I just figured it would be better to have the light in his situation. I didnt have a light in my grow out pen because i dont have a line out there and my mom wont let me run an extension cord across the back yard. My birds were 6 weeks old when i moved them from the brooder.
