Title: Hello from Washington State
Post by: bkvail on March 05, 2009, 10:15:33 PM
Well, I guess I should introduce myself.

My name is Karin Vail and I am 40 years old.  I live in Skagit County, WA.  I raise Mini Lop rabbits for show and have raised rabbits for 16 years.  My website is www.vailslops.com  - I am going to raise Coturnix quail (if I can get the hatching right!) for meat and eggs.  I also have a trio of Welsummer chickens for eggs.   I plan to add Turkeys this spring - have lots of fencing to do soon :)  I have the materials, just need to get hubby and sons to help.

I am married for 18 years to my best friend, Brian, and we have a 17 yr old son (senior in HS) and a 15 yr old son (freshman in HS).  My hubby and sons are into snow sports (snowmobiling, snowboarding, and hubby has a snowcat)  Hubby's website is www.snowtoaster.com.

I have a home-based  ''business''.  I do custom embroidery and custom sewing.  Some of my items are on ebay at www.stores.ebay.com/karinvail  - I do have some quail and pheasant embroidery designs that I might be able to put some items in my store for people's hatcheries, etc. :)

black pheasants?????  always something  new and interesting I've not heard of!  I think if I had help building pens, I'd raise some quail too - we have 1 1/2 acres we can fence in if I had two teen helpers - but you know how teens can be!

Another Karen here from Washington State. Puyallup in Pierce County. Raising Marans chickens and Mottled Cochin Bantams. 2 incubators going full time. Now that I have my quail racks for the auto-turner, going to try my hand at quail.
