screen for bottom of new hatching tray?

im building new hatching trays for my leahy and was thinking about using screen door screen would this work or would their toes get caught in it (its for quail) for pheasant and chicken  im using 1/4 in wire

also i hatched a few chicken eggs  and got 100% hatch and all of them are still kicking

used brower for incubating and leahy for hatching
and with the water tray and wick systemi made  i can make it rain in there if i wanted( i replace the wicks every 2 weeks )
