When i first started my quail I called and asked the local coop and shoppers supply stores about gamebird feed. Both places didn't carry any. They suggested using "meatbird" feed normally used for heavies in the chicken group. I never bought it as I went and got enough gamebird feed at McMurrays hatchery since it was local.
Less than six months after asking both the coop and shoppers supply they both started carrying gamebird feed as a standard item. Now I have three places to buy and they're all about the same price.
It might have helped that I contacted the sales office too for the brand shoppers carries (sportsmans choice).
