as far as i know... you can not mix them together. chukars need a min. of 10ft/per bird.( 12ft is good). and i was told that California quail are very hard to raise. how high is the enclosure?

If predators an issue, then you should go with 1/2" hardwire. 2" netting, Im thinking they can squize out of.

Are you asking how much $$$$ to start off?
If you give a rounded number of birds and type you planning on getting, others can better help. Or just visit some dealer's website and get an estimate from their prices.

How much is it to get started

I don't believe that anyone is going to be able to answer that question for you.  Too many variables.

If you worried about the money, maybe you better not start, I know I'm not making any $$$$$$$$$$$$$   just enjoy raising the birds with my daughters.  Who love to hatch them an watch them grow.   Just remember money for pens, waters, feeders, birds, eggs, incubators, brooders,  ooooo and don't forget the weekly feed bill, medications, state license etc....    just my 2cents

good luck

You can spend as much money as you want to on raising birds but I would not mix them. Don't plan on becoming an millionaire off the birds.

If your just starting off it's best to start with coturnix quail or bob's there the easiest to raise and build you a pen up off the ground with 1/2 x 1/2 wire floor make the pen about 6x12 and start off with about 30 or 40 birds and learn as you go this way you will have some ideal of what to do as you expand thank you jim  s016
