15 miles to a gallon just don't cut it

Heck, that isn't too bad, especially when compared to my 4-cyclinder Toyleta Wheelbarrow Ruster at 18 mpg at its best......at least you can haul something more than a bag a feed and pull more than a 400# empty trailer.    s47

CharlieHorse,

When I load up the truck my mpg drops down to about  12mpg HWY.

When I was into boating 1974 - 1994  we discussed about gas consumption in gallons per hr. The best I ever got on my 27' Silverton Sport Fisherman was 10 gal per hr. on a Chry 225hp/318CI with a single screw. I had twin 60gal tanks, and at that time in 1985, the gas was between $.89.9 - $1.10.9 a gal. The marina was selling it for $1.35.9

Those were in the better days.

Gas around my area is going for $3.59.9- $3.69.9 today. Who knows about tomorrow.

I get 20mpg in my GMC empty and about 10mpg pulling 5 tons down RT 77, the West Virginia turnpike will knock the mpg out of just about anything. If I could only control myself and keep it under 75mph, my mileage would probably increase some. But I'm willing to pay the extra $20 so I can race.   ^-^

Yeah, that boatin' is some expensive stuff.  It's figured in gallons to the mile if I'm not mistaken.  I have a cousin that practically lives on the Ohio River down by Hockingport (Belpre/Coolville area), he has a "Baja" boat and it about makes me sick when he tells me of how much it costs him every weekend to just run around. No fishing, seldom skiing or tubing......just runs up and down the river every weekend.   :-|

A few years ago I was in the back of a boat when my brother drove it into the riverbank at full throttle, we had to have been running about 50mph.   :-o  The steering cable locked up and we were to close to the bank and no time to do anything. I broke my seat off at the floor I was pushing backwards on it so hard, bracing myself for the impact.  That was one that I'll never forget and a long story.

CharlieHorse,

That's the only thing I miss about being in the mountains. I miss the salt air, saltwater fishing and the waves. I just can't see myself going down the OH river.

Thanks to IKE heading to Texas, gas prices jumped to $3.79.9 - $3.89.9 in my area yesterday from $3.48.9. - $3.59.9  s80  I can't wait until it gets there, we should see prices over the $4.00 mark then.
