When did the 10th of a cent first come in to play?
A long time ago. I've got fuel price signs out of an old service station when it was around .10 a gallon......they actually read .109, etc. etc..
Of course back then people bought fuel buy the gallon......."Give me 6 gallons and check the oil".
Not the "I want to prepay $6 on...ummmm...uu.....pump 7, I think, that green car over there, and give me 10 numbers on the Mega Millions with these 2 bottles of soda (1.99each)" scenario that you see today.

I worked for Sohio many years ago and knew what their reasoning (excuse) behind it was, unfortunately, for some reason my mind only remembers...remembering, not the actual memory itself. Does that make sense?
Regardless of any reasoning, I would still argue that it is actually a phsychological trick played on human beans minds. Can you imagine the millions that 9/10 of a penny generates?

That's a good idea, then you can stop along the roadside along the way and let it eat off of everyones yard, then you won't have to buy feed either!

Definitely. I guess people will have to start vacationing closer to home, like they did 20-25 years ago? That's not all bad....maybe the local economies will get a boost? State Parks and campgrounds have been hurting for years around here.
I just put $110 of diesel (small tank) in the truck today.
It takes about 3 tanks to get where I'm going and back in a couple of weeks. Last year it was about $75 a tank full........a $35 dollar difference x 3 = $105. I can live with that, the problem is everything else known to man has gone up too, because of the fuel prices and opportunist price gouging combined.
Just wait until they sock it too us with the electric prices!
I read where only satan himself could straighten any of it out?......for a little while!
