Any time after mid april I'm going to be wanting about a dozen eggs of each, pm or post here if you expect to have any around then. Could go as late as june for them.  I'd like to raise out 3-4 pair of each.

Hi Jim

I am looking at april, will check my VA schedule and might be able to pick them  up rather then ship them, or just pick a day and drive down.

On the Mtn and the Mearns I want to have just enough to keep a line going, and maybe swap some birds for others.

What other Quail species do you have that you'll be selling eggs from?

Our cnty fair is later part of July, I am taking some standard Bobwhites, would like to have a couple other species to exhibit. All the prizes go to the kids, but I'm taking  a trio of my Chantecler chickens, some Game Bantam pairs, probably some Ringneck Doves, for exhibit and providing some books for the winners in the 4H classes. Its going to be a fun week.  Hoping to recruit some more bird breeders    j41

I've been checking with the 'usual suspects' on egg prices for Mtns and Mearns, havent found any prices on Mearns yet, but the Mtns I have seen have been around $8 an egg.

Hi Jim

I've been reading everything that I hav on Quail and finally decided that ts best to pass on Mearns this year in favor of some other species, I amnot at all sure that they will do well up here, or as well as several     others

I think this year the Mtns, maybe some Blue Scales and some Gambels, besides the other birds thats going to be a full plate,  they will join rare chickens, game bantams, ringneck doves, pheasants and grouse.

You should be in good shape then on raising your own Mearns this year. A beautiful bird for sure.
