18* this morning with clear skies. Warmed up to 48* and now the temps are down to 30*. Another cold night calling for low 20*.

Local yokels' in shorts and tee shirts, with watch caps pulled over their ears.  s020 What a joke.

We are in for it tonight and then all the way into Thursday, with rain and freezing rain along with a:...FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 12 PM EST
TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS ISSUED A FREEZING
RAIN ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO NOON TUESDAY.

RAIN COULD FREEZE LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. UNTREATED
SURFACES COULD BECOME ICY.

ANY ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED TO BE LESS THAN A QUARTER OF AN
INCH. SO A MAJOR ICE STORM IS NOT EXPECTED.What's the difference, Ice is ice. if the road surface is untreated you are still S.O.L s20 Secondary roads around here is when they get to them, and if they close the schools, well you can forget about any salting on the secondary roads. I guess the wife will be home tomorrow  s85

A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN
WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS.
ALLOW EXTRA TIME AND USE EXTRA CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Tonight: Mainly cloudy this evening. Then a light mix of wintry precipitation expected overnight. Low 29F. Winds light and variable. Chance of precip 40%.
Tomorrow: Rain. High 39F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
Tomorrow night: Periods of rain. Low 37F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
Wednesday: Rain showers early mixing with snow showers later in the day. High 41F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precip 60%.
Thursday: Rain and snow showers. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper 20s.
Friday: Snow showers at times. Highs in the mid 30s and lows in the upper teens.

........and Friday, The WV state Dept of Agriculture comes to test the birds. At least the ground will be frozen.

Ok, dumb question from CA where we get a little snow, hail and rain.  What is the difference between freezing rain and snow?  Does that not add up to either snow or hail?
