..........the Cherry tree leaves give off cyanide when wilting. It can kill horses etc if they eat enough.

...and goats. Buckeyes are a problem around here too, as far as killing livestock.

Nice morning so far here in WV j2 Outside temp at 0730, 45* patchy fog and sun. Winds light and Var. Highs for today, 71* with more clouds then sun and a 30% chance of rain.

CharlieHorse,

Buckeye's around the property here as well. Is it true that only the squirrel can differentiate which half is editable? Or is this just some old Ohio wives tail, and the whole buckeye is poisonous?

What is the sole purpose of this tree and seed pod? (commerical use)

Isn't it just the Black Cherry Tree that produces the cyanide from the wilted leaves, twigs and the nut like pit?

Forgot to mention....colder than my X's heart, still snowing. Drifts last night when locking up the birds. One on the south side of the Amherst pen was nearly 3' deep. Headed out now to un-lock them....

Are you sure that isn't an old picture taken back in January of '32 ?  I think that's the same picture you've been posting for the past 4 years.    :-|

You wouldn't be pullin' our leg would ya?   ^-^

I hope it doesn't get too warm today.   c53

U-n-b-l-i-v-e-a-b-l-e !!

I go out and sweep off my truck so the wife can use it to go to work, pull it ahead so it's near the gate & a short wolk for her....

Her: did you shovel a path to the truck for me ?

Me: What the hell for ?

Her: so I can wear my work shoes to it !

Me: wear your snow boots !

Her: BUT IT IS A P.I.T.A. TO CHANGE INTO THEM IN THE TRUCK !

Me: WELL CHANGE THEM INSDIE AT WORK !

Her: (grumble grumble)

Me: out I go and shovel a path to the truck.....

Her: You didn't have to do that, I was going to put my work shoes in a plastic bag and take them to work that way (said with a grin)

Me: Go to work ! And I'm NOT going to shovel a path for you when you get home !

Her: That's OK, I'll just put them on the register to dry out !
