I'm considering getting into raising quail. This potentially will be a hobby for me and my kids and I am looking to experiment really small scale just to gauge our interest / commitment.
Does anyone know of any breeders in the Atlanta area? I'd be interested in some starter birds and avoid the expense of hatching / brooding equipment until I am convinced that this is something my kids will enjoy helping with.
Also any general advise on what I'm proposing would be helpful; recommended type of birds etc.
I live in a residential subdivision so this will be a backyard type operation.
My wife thinks I'm NUTS!!!... Is she right?... Usually she is!

Hello, T Rice
yes I think it would be a good thing to do with your kids as long as if you have time to take care of them and show your kids,it is a fun hobby. As for Quail for starting out I have been having good luck with the Georgia Giants Bobwhite quail.

Thanks for the reply sgtvalleroy7,
Georgia Giants are certainly on my list. Still looking for a source for just a few birds, I'm afraid that a commercial breeder won't do.
Was hoping to find local hobbyists on whose kindness I could rely.
Have a great day!
