Hey folks, First time poster here... Live just outside Tampa FL and have five acres near the Polk Country Border with lots of grandfather oaks.  Hope to move out there and build.  Go into semi-retirement (if there is such a thing) and raise quail.  Hope to sell eggs and meat to local establishments.  Have already talked with the Country Extention and am awaiting feedback from another authority.   I found this site last night while browsing and must say, this is absolutely the BEST site.  Plenty of questions and answers.  I hope as things get closer to have a valid plan on paper of what I really want to do.  Just wanted to tip my hat and say hello to you all... thanks...///Moe

Welcome aboard Moe!

Just keep in mind that you will never get rich in the game bird business.

One thing I would like to mention though, make sure you check with your state Dept of Ag. and what their requirements are as far as selling birds and eggs to the local establishments.  Anything having to do with a slaughter house and egg handling facilities is a touchy situation, and the USDA may also get involved.

Otherwise, best of luck to you on your semi-retirement..
