My Coturnix hen has Ruffled feathers but appears fine. An egg a day for the most part. Did a search and only found this in conjunction with other symptoms. Is this a sure sign of anything? What preventive measures should be taken?
One thing I did notice is she is drinking more water than the male I have.

Dan do you have a small box with clean, dry  fine dust or dirt for your hen to get into?  If quail can't take a dust bath they often will develop the ruffled feather look.  And they really love taking a dust bath!

If they are kept inside get a spray bottle of water and spray them this will also help. ty2 Jim
