I have one of the covey anchor release systems and have made another myself.  I was wondering at about what age is best to release birds to train my dogs.  i released some last year but they wer 16 weeks old.  i have been reading and some people say that 6-8 week old birds is best.  any info will help.

what is a covey anchor release system?  if you are releasing them into the wild i'd release them in the summer months when there is weed seed to eat and i lot of bugs.  and 6-8 weeks works great.  you can also get more for your  money at 6-8 weeks.   fun hunting this fall

I release mine at 5 weeks and have had great success. In warm weather of course.
