my dad has 3 acres in alabama on the river and lives  in a stilt house and he said the waters up 5 ft under his house ,all his worm beds ,garden ,basically anything at ground level has floated away. any one in that area? he said the river came up real fast with little warning , not much time to prepare... even his washing machine and dryer floated away...

I'm very sorry to hear that.  Yeah not much time to prepare, that happens.
Hopefully he'll recover soon.
