Still here I guess not much is going on these days.Maybe things will pickup this fall.
I like this forum alot I don't want to read about chickens on a gamebird forum.

Still here, raising the last hatch (3.5 weeks old now).  Switched the adults to a higher percent feed and going to try another hatch in a couple weeks.

The hot weather here in the mid-west finally broke.  Means I wont be spending as much time hiding in the swimming pool!

Got me a Pinto ! Guess that makes me the lucky one !   c50
New engine for it should be here in Sept.
Will not be back on the road till next spring/summer though. Lots to do to it....

On the bird front.... Peafowl had a rough go sitting. Big hail storm & she moved into the Cedars some & the eggs got cold. No idea how long she was off the eggs though, so left them.
Due date came around & so did monsoon rains. Whole pen & nest was under water. She left the nest completely this time. Tossed the eggs.

New trio of Reeves from the States, paid for I think it was last Dec. are still not here.

As for the site, lots still visit. Just no stuff posted. Plus being summer lots of people are doing other stuff. I guess.

I love this forum.  It's been very helpful for me as a novice gamebird hobbyist.  This is my second year to incubate Bob White Quail and I've successfully hatched 45 out of about 90 eggs this summer alone.  Now I have a female that has successfully hatched on her own 5 chicks.  So far she's taking care of them and boy is she protective.  I love watching her and her babies.  She is one of my older hens and she tried to hatch out a batch last season but I was always told that they wouldn't be successful so, I would just take up the eggs when she would get off the nest.  This time I left them and I don't know if the heat this summer was on her side but so far nine have hatched and only five are healthy and viable.  I did put a heating lamp in her coop just in case the chicks find themselves in need of a heat source.  The weather is still warm but the nights have cooled off.  These chicks are not in a controlled environment so we'll see how it goes.  If anybody has a suggestion I'd love to hear it.

Slider don't give up; Reeves is right its been a crazy summer.  j1

Been real busy here, feel like I'm.......  dh2   Not a moment to spare it seems, only been getting on the net when I have to.

This is my first year with my own farm tractor and haying equipment also, so I've been doing that too.

.......maybe someday I can have a Pinto.......   s47

Charlie

I put the Pinto off since the mid 70s, always saying to myself: one day.
Then at my age one takes notice others the same age dropping off like flies.
Decided it is now or never.
Then all I wanted seemed to drop right down in front of me. Stars in line & all that suff.
All my resources are now being poured into it to get it done by next spring/summer.

Ya only live once !

Other good news, I've been getting more free steel gas line pipe ! Not much more & I'll be able to finish the fencing project !

Trio of Reeves paid for last Dec. still not here.
Might get other new species this fall, from Manatoba.
Seems a shame to have that "Newest Aviary" sitting empty for so long......

My "Pinto dreams" turned into 54 horses that says Kubota on the side of it.   :-|

What's the deal there?  Did they pull a fast one on you or what?

When you get that finished, your entire yard will be an avairy!

For a direct flight to near me, F&W wnated the guy to "join" them (don't know details on this joining thing) then 100 + dollars for each time shipping to Canada. Would have bumped the price up about $265.00 ? (been a while since reading the e-mails)
Yet he can ship direct to Toronto on Delta with no extra charges.
Last e-mail from him he was going to ship my birds to Toronto then the guy there ship to me.
Not ready for them anyway. Building needs to be sterilized & painted inside. Work getting in the way.....

Yard will not be an aviary..... still trying to get enough pipe to finish the barn yard ! Getting close though !
I have another contact for pipe, just haven't had time to call him & set up a meet.

Not sure how many HP the new engine will have. When done I'll see about getting it onto a dyno ? Thinking about 450 + ? I'd be happy with 400 HP. It is going to be wild enough with that much !
