I think the stuff was/is called Everclear. Not sure if the stuff is even made any more.

You get served a glass of water and another with 2-4oz of Everclear. You are supposed to drink the Everclear , straight , without stopping. And not up-chuck.

If successful , you get a card saying you've been Hyderized.

Out of 8-9 of us there, only myself and Dad's buddy were successful !

When you set your empty glass down, the server lights the glass on fire .... the left over fumes burn a clear blue flame  s020

Been to Hyder/Stewart 4 times. (only got Hyderized the first time....nasty stuff !)
Took this picture in the mid 80s ?
It is the old jail at the border. Last time there the border crossing was boarded up.

Well,
Not to continue on a subject that has nothing to do with quail but yes Everclear is still around.  At least I have seen it various times throughout my career.  I am in the U.S. Marines in Alsaka doing a prodject to build a road to be used to move a town that is sinking into the earth.  Due to the fact I am a Marine, yes I have tried Everclear.  Right, Nasty stuff!  I am staying in Bethel, Alaska right now.  Been all over the state the last month.  The trip is over in August and will hopefully get my first birds.  Thanks.

Yes,
But these pictures of the moving of the town will not take place until the rest of the preporation is done.  Most importantly building the road which we are doing now.  My guess is that the town move will not take place for a couple more years.  We can only work once a year from June till August because of the perma-frost that is in the tundra.  Talk later.

You Got it!  But you have to pass the physical fitness test and combat fitness test as well... O.K. forget it!

Thanks for all your help.  I'm sure we will talk again when I get my birds and have 2x the questions.
