Reeves,

I think that the pony harness would be much to big to alter for goats. I have seen Large dog harness such as a dog sled harness that would probably work out better.

I tried a search on dogsled harness and every link I tried wouldn't come up.

Charlie's built too much different than a dog or horse, except for...

I thought of the dog harnesses (I use them for my Brittanys), but you would have to add to them.  They do have heavy pulling contests for dogs, and that type of harness would be best.

This reminds me of a true story of a guy with a hairlip and a Goat Cart.

They have Pitbull dog weight pulls, take a look at one of them.

Thanks for the great ideas everyone!  And the SA remarks, I enjoy them the most!    ^-^

As previously mentioned, I believe they would be too big. Plus, from what dealings I've seen with mini horse/pony harnesses, I'd have to refinance the house to buy one. Although a good (leather) goat harness is expensive too.

My goats (kids) will be even too small for alot of goat harnesses, that is why I figured I'd have to make my own. They start at 40 lbs when I get them and will be about 100 lbs by show time.

s020  I used to wear one made for a Clydesdale.

Workinggoatharnesses.com

I've got a friend out in the mountain states that raises and sells backpacking goats, and also sells back packs for them.  I'd be tempted to prefer a llama over them but the goats do carry around fifty pounds, the llamas around 80-100 depending on size and sex, the gelded ones are the best, carry the most and most even tempered.

Thanks Jake, I've looked at that site before.  I'll be using them for muscle toning exercises.

Chuck, I hand stitched some tubular sling for climbing equipment (years ago).
Used the wax coated dental floss. Very strong ! I'll try and remember to take some pictures for you. It may be the way to go ?

You can also stitch with monofilament (fishing line) as well, as long as the eye of the needle can accommodate the size.
