Title: Sick Quail
Post by: fishman on May 31, 2004, 10:26:05 PM
I have had three bobwhite hens die in the past two weeks and today I have one that is very listless. :(  She is just sitting with her feathers ruffled and I noticed she has white watery diarrhea. What could this possibly be and what should I treat them with to cure them and to prevent any further deaths :?: .  Any and all help would greatly be appreciated !! Thanks

How old are the hens If they are laying it could be eggbinding. If that turns out to be the case increase there calium with layer feed or crushed oyster shells. Shells are cheap and sold in big 50 lb bags ( thats the smallest they come in at my local feed store) I strike a deal and they will sell it to me for 25 cents a lb. not as good a buy but less space taken up in the garage.
Best of luck
