Do not know about the birds for hunting business, but the egg sales were really good on Butlers,Valley and Blue Scale.

Not at all, that I could see, and from what I heard.  In fact, the shooting preserves that will cater to basic hunts will likely see increases.  Hunters will probably hunt preserves, rather than travel to hunt places with poor populations of wild birds.  All inclusive guided hunts, and corporate sponsored hunts may be reduced.  I see plenty of opportunity to promote services, and also to incourage local stocking, where legal.

I wouldn't count on new customers flocking to you, if you don't advertise, or try to create business.

The best way to prove the negative news that hurts this country is to believe in it, and act as if it is inevitable.
Anyone ever hear the story about the old man who had a hot dog cart during the depression?

I'll make an effort to recall, and type it out in the next few days.

Jake would be the most likely to know it.  It would fit his personality to use it as a teaching tool.

There was a man who lived in New York City and sold hot dogs.
He was hard of hearing, so he had no radio.
He was a poor immigrant, so he read no newspaper.
But he sold good hot dogs.
He put signs up two blocks in each direction from his tiny stand, telling how good they were.
He stood stood by his stand and cried “Buy a hot dog, mister?”
     And people bought.

He increased his meat and bun orders.
He bought a bigger stove to take care of his trade.
He had three sons, which he put into business in different Burroughs, they did very well.
His youngest son preferred to be formally educated, so he sent that son to Ivy league schools.

His son finally returned from college to help him out.
     But then something happened.
His son said, “Father, haven't you been listening to the radio?”
“Haven't you been reading the newspaper?”
     There's a big depression.”
     “The European situation is terrible.”
     The domestic situation is worse.”
Whereupon the father thought, “Well, my son has been to college: he
reads the papers and listens to the radio, he ought to know.”
So he stopped putting out his signs.
     Business slowed.
Assuming people out of wok would sleep in, he began opening later.
     Sales dropped.
So he cut down on his meat and bun orders.
He saw no use in staying open, once each days allotment was sold.
     Everything slowed drastically.

He longer bothered to stand out by his stand and call out as his loyal customers passed.
And his hot dog sales fell almost to zero.
“You're right, son.” the father said to the boy.
“We are certainly in the middle of a great depression.”
"I must have been an old fool to keep at it so long."

Best year ever.  If I had 10,000 more I'd sold them too - no exaggeration.  However, if you have good birds (i.e. feathered, healthy, wild, fly very well) and reasonable pricing, this is a problem you'll have no matter how many you raise.

I think people stayed home, bought birds and did their own put 'n take hunts versus shelling out BIG bucks going west (i.e. kansas, iowa dakotas, nebraska).
