Hi My name is Tonya Kent and I need help.  My neighbors dog (a labrador retriever) brought me an egg the other day.  I thought it was really cute until it hatched in my hand.  Now I am the proud Mommy of something!!  I think it may be a hungarian/Grey partridge but I'm not sure.
Right now, I am feeding S/he poultry starter because believe it or not, I can not find wild game bird starter here in Montana.  I also added a little bit of hard boiled egg yolk this evening and that was a huge hit.  We are staying warm at 95 degrees.
If there is anything else that I should know, I would really appreciate any advise that anyone has for this little baby.  Also if anyone knows what it is, that would be awesome!!  The picture was taken at day 2.  Horton should be about 5 days old now.
Thank You
Tonya and Horton

I can't help you ID the critter, but that feed should be 28-30% protein. Make sure it is drinking water out of something drowned proof.  I may be wrong, but I'd be careful with the "lower the temp 5 degrees per week rule" with just one chick. Simply because it doesn't have anybody to warm up too at all if it where to get chilled.......does that make sense?

Interesting story on the hatch I must say.

 s016   and good luck.

Except if it's an odd chicks, it's sure it's not a guinea or a coturnix, it's an Hungarian, what was the size of the egg? You are lucky to have this!  s80

Hi Frank!
I talked to my neighbor and he said that the dog had been bringing him eggs all week!  He thinks he brought me the last one because he knew Dad wasn't doing a very good job at raising the other eggs (he was throwing them away) s020
The egg was tan/beige colored and about an inch in size.  Does that make sense?
