Field Dog Trials?

My wildlife club was thinking about having a dog trial to raise some money. I was wondering what the steps are in getting going and what kind of birds we should use? I already got a license so that i could put it on. We were thinking of using quail because it is something different around here and might attract more people. It would be anything special like points or anything for the dogs. Just a fun day to raise money to put on hunter safety for kids in the community or some other fun activities. We are also active in getting partridge established so we need to raise the money to buy birds.

Keep it simple.  Use good birds, even if the cost a dollar more.  Five birds per brace at $4 per bird will leave you about $25 per brace, if you charge $25 per dog.

  We use a scoring system of 20 points per find, retrieve, and for one back per dog, per brace.
