Quail Restoration sells chick-aid. How important is it? Is there a substitute? Input will be appreciated.

Kick 'Em Up - Knock 'Em Down

It appears to be about the same type of quick start feed as the GroGel B I get from Lake Cumberland.  It may be in my head but I definitely believe it helps the chicks.  Its usually gone within a few hours, well before they are looking at the game bird starter feed I have in the brooder.

Appears to be cheaper... The packages are small but will feed what they say.  I mix it on paper plates and put in the brooder when I take chicks out of the incubator.
