We are about to get just 6 adult quail...some are laying...and we've never had them before. They are from some people that have hunting dogs.
I have been online looking for how to house them, but am not finding much that suits us. All I'm really finding is large scale, breeding quail things.
Can anyone tell me what a small group (such as ours will be) will need in the housing department?
We're just keeping them, as they seem like a wonderful addition and interest for us and our kids.
And feel free to be as explicit as possible, as I said, we're totally new at this and know nothing!  j2
TIA!

Look at the My Avaries thread. I'm going to try to mimic Reeve's design except smaller, much smaller.

If all you are going to have is three pairs , I'd build three separate pens.
Place them well apart, or along different sides of the yard.
This will get them "talking" to each other more.

That is what I did when I had Bobwhite Quail. Loved their calls !

You should hear how "rudely" they'll "talk" to each other when you bring a new pair home and put them in another pen within sight of the others, during breeding season  s020

Thanks for the input. Lots of great info and pictures.
I'll followup later with what we build and all.
Thanks again!
