After doing a search here it looks like some people use apple cider vinegar in their quail water.
What about pheasant and chickens?
One post stated it was toxic for chickens? Any Truth to this?

White cider or Apple cider over doses can cause death. Use in moderation, I think, 1 once to 5 gallons to help control the smell from their waste by product.

I don't use it. so I really can't say how well it will work.

As Steve mentioned, it is most often used (by lazy people) to prevent droppings from smelling as much, and from having to clean water containers as often.

Best deal is to keep water containers clean, fresh water daily throughout the summer months.

The enclosed water containers should be avoided during the hot months anyway.

Thanks guys, The reason I was asking was for the meat chickens in my garage.
Two days and they stink. I need to keep them inside for one more week.

I know the feeling.....wife got home from work yesterday (she only works 4 hr shifts) and thought I should have had the kitchen floor washed, supper cooked and more. Worst thing about that, she was serious !

I don't have those kind of problems, I set her straight from day one.  She knows who's runnin' the show around here.  Too much trouble and I'll cut her off for a while and see how she likes that!!      I let her have her own car too, just to show my appreciation.

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their
new wives duties.

The first man had married a woman from Illinois and had told her that
she was going to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of
day's, but on the third day he came home to see a clean house and
dishes washed and put away.

The second man had married a woman from Michigan. He had given his
wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the
cooking. The first day he didn't see any results but the next day he
saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the
dishes were done, and there was a huge dinner on the table.

The third man had married a beautiful girl from Ohio. He told
her that her duties were to keep the house clean, dishes washed, lawn
mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He
said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see
anything, but by the third day some of the swelling had gone down and
he could see a little out of his left eye enough to fix himself a
sandwich and load the dishwasher.

  We have well water, and in the summer, a gallon jug of it gets cloudy pretty fast. I've used apple cider vinegar because it seems to keep algae and "stuff" from forming in tubing leading to nipple waterers.   They are pretty hard to clean, if it ever gets started.  It does seem to help with odor.  Diatomaceous Earth (in the feed) is supposed to help with odor, it will help keep flies at bay.  Both claim other health benefits.  DE that is prepaired for swimming pool filters is toxic use food grade (white), only!  [White only,guess I'm in for it again]

  I use both, apple cider vinegar, and DE, myself.  That's why my **** don't stink!

So.... I suppose now I wasted her time by sending her to the store to get the vinegar.
Now she's going to be behind in the cleaning. Hope supper is ready when I get home
