Wild Bird Seed
«

Recently someone left 3 bags of wildbird seed on my door step. (Guess they thought they were helping me out with food costs). Anyway, not sure what to do with it.
Does anyone mix this with their normal rations, or use it as treats? It is mostly sunflower and milo. Any problems with feeding this that anyone has?

Seems like it would be okay, except you'll have to be sure and provide some grit for them to have in their gizzard to help digest this new food. Crumbles don't have shells on it for their bellies to digest, wild seed does.

Thanks, that was my thought also. I guess I could just dump it in the field for the "wild birds". Thought it might be a nice treat. I do provide plenty of grit. I will give it a try.
Thanks for the reply

I throw about a cup of "wild bird" seed in the pen about once a day for last 3 or 4 years. They really like it. It's some of what they would be eating in the wild.
