hello all, I have 2 each gqf incubator's and hatchers. I recently purchased Texas A & M"s,jumbo browns, from one breeder i know here in texas. I then got some eggs from the people i told ya'll about CBFsuperquail i got the texas A & M's, the XLD1's (14oz.+), and a breed he crossed these 2 and now has a cross breed. The eggs i got were all good sized would barely fit in the 124 egg flats, but their eggs are so large you can't dbl. stack the trays. Well its day 17 and i only got 288 A & M's,73 XLD1's, 46 of the crosses. Theres chicks all over the place in the hatcher's, I have them breed seperated because they want feedback on their crosses.Well since I could dbl. stack my eggs i'd be all right with my eggs but now i'm gonna switch to their bloodline "mine's lake cumberland" it's awesome. I'm gonna make an incubator out of a freezer and i was not seeing any fans in some of them and was wondering which is better and better for the eggs. also if anyone has any plans they could send me i'd appreciate it. Thanks Tommy GOD BLESS

I would defintely go with forced air. You get a better all around temperature and humidity when using forced air. Plus you can take your temp from anywhere in the incubator and you temp does not have to be so high.

here are a few links to incubator plans.

I agree with Mike, forced is best.

hey, thats what I thought it was for regulating temp. and air mixing in bator for chicks. I really appreciate and PATIENCE with me i'm trying to get restarted last oct. my house and birds were destroyed by a fire i lost my 1st time raising from 1000 eggs i had over 750 chicks that night before the fire and of course I had no insurance the only things that weren't destroyed were my 2 ea. gqf incubators & 2 ea. gqf hatchers, 4 oakes box brooders i got for $25 each. I just b4 the week end on thurs. nite i got my 2nd yr. AA coin then 5 days later was just got done buying materials and had the holes dug and concrete sitting by holes with posts in them. I' have used the same materials i had there at my dad's property now I have 3 - 12'x 24"  & 1 10'x24'.   now i'm needing bigger bators cuz i'm expanding. All i had at the time was my boxers got in truck with dad went to get some pants went to AA immediately. So any help i can get , I thank ya'll  GOD BLESS,   Tommy
