There's no point to this post ..... I just thought I'd share pic's of my little broody Jap (coturnix) and her foster brood.

I had 4 x 3 day old coturnix who hatched out at the same time as baby bob's (coturnix eggs where first laid by a new grower pen and stuck in the incubator to prove a UK know all quail keeper wrong) anyway after 3 days in the same brooder as the bob's they (japs) started getting bullied, all my brooders are full of replacement bob's and I had no where to put them ...... so decided to chance putting them in with one of my older hens, who's turned out to be a perfect mother & has looked after them like her own for over a week now.

This should be a click-able slide show ...  dunno if it'll work tho  :-|

Just a quick update

Goldie has being doing so well with her little brood that I thought I'd experiment. I added a second female who has now taken over the brooding of the coturnix chicks, freeing up Goldie to start taking care of some newly hatched Bobwhites. I'm hoping that everything goes well and she copes with the more boisterous baby Bob's so that I can have her raise any Gambel & Valley chicks that are due at the beginning of next month.

Goldie, Peggy & the Jap chicks ..

Goldie & the Bob brood ...
