how old are bobwhite quail when they begin to fly.

Hi Andy, I have some bobwhites that are about 5 weeks old and when I go in their pen they sure do fly around, but as for being on their own, they are to young. Guess that might not help you any.

They will generally start taking short flying trips around 2 weeks of age.

I don't have quail, just pheasants right now, but have read many articles about the age in which you get the best results when releasing them in the wild.  Some are getting their quail out as early as 5 and 6 weeks.   I would assume that at this age, they can fly pretty good.  I know my pheasants could easily fly out of the brooder at 3 weeks.
