If all else fails - you might try http://www.strombergschickens.com/stock/pheasants.php (http://www.strombergschickens.com/stock/pheasants.php)

surrogating may also be helpful to establish a wild population. Theres some info here on the forums about it and heres a website that sells a prefab unit -

It appears this sub-species has a propensity to roost in trees which would be helpful where we are at. Females still need to nest on the ground.

We have started a predator control program following hunting regulations for California; but may opt for depredation permits if needed.

If you have any experience with any of the breeders please let me know.  I know these birds were released in TX, AZ, and NM, but wonder how they have done and how they have done in a partially timbered environment?

I just got there and they are doing a great job helping out.  What I really need is a pheasant that likes.................... no loves to roost in the trees at night like a turkey.
