i was wondering how long it will take to be able to tell the sex of my quail.they are almost 3 weeks old.... and how long should it take them to begain to lay?

That will depend on a few factors; Type of quail being the most important.  Also if you use the forum's search for the type (coturnix, Bobwhite, etc) chances are you'll find your question already answered.

or you can tell us what type of quail puppies you have.

male bobs have white on their faces ,females are tan or light brown  they will lay the first spring after the hatch maybe a month sooner if forced with lights
