I heard from some body that you can euthanize birds with CO2 how would you go about doing this? Thanks for your time.

I don't know about CO2, but most people I've talked to about this just put them in a box and run a hose from thier vehicle exhaust into the box. I don't have the heart to just gas them like that, but that's how I've heard it is done....

Try this -

I would prefer a CO2 cartridge with a regulator, but I imagine this would do in a pinch.

I once saw where a woman used helium (rented from a party store) for her sick finches that could not be saved.  She swore that it was quick and painless.   I've never had to do it, though.

Good luck.

Whenever I have a bird to cull, I hold the body in one hand, the head in my other hand.
Then move my arms apart quickly.
Works every time.

Reeves, you are so elequent with your words, I love it!

Many different ways to "cull" an animal.  If you are wanting to make it "painless", sorta speak....  You need to stop all brain activity immediately.  The best way?  well, there are many theories on this topic.  Some say when the head is severed it throws the brain into shock and there is no pain?.  If you put the animal into the freezer it causes the animal to slowly go to sleep and is painless ( I don't like this one because I don't like cold).  The one I like most, for "humane" killing.....  It sounds very brutal, but, makes the most sense.  Take a hammer or mallet, smash the head destroying the brain.  This way, brain activity stops immediately and there can be no pain, since pain is recognized in the brain.  If the brain is destroyed, there is no pain.

Who knows?  I've never heard of anyone coming back from being killed saying if it hurt or not.  Easiest is like Reeves said, and what I do when hunting and the bird is still kicking.
