FIRST OFF WHAT ARE YOU INCUBATING THE EGGS IN? YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR INCUBATOR REGULATED AT THE PROPER TEMP A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE YOU SET YOUR EGGS. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THAT SPIKE IN YOUR TEMP BUT IT'S NOT GONNA DO THEM ANY GOOD.   8)  P.D.

they are in a LG incubator with egg turner.i had it set a day before but the humidity is high here in fl and we have no air so we had the wind dows open.but we got wind dow units now and we are holding a better temp and humidity.

I WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT THE HUMIDITY TOO MUCH JUST DON'T LET IT GET BELOW 40%. YOU REALLY NEED TO KEEP THAT TEMP AS CLOSE TO 100 AS POSSIBLE. THE LAST 4 DAYS OF THE HATCH BRING YOUR HUMIDITY UP TO AROUND 70% AND WALAH CHICKS!        P.D.

finally my eggs hatched :D .  its 4:00 in the morning and so far i have 14 baby bob whites.  one looks like it might have a broken leg though.  he drags one leg behind him but sometimes gets it up under him.  do you think it is broke?  :?: anything i can do?  Also, while they are hatching my humidity on my hydrometer registers high.  is this normal? and the temp dropped to 98.  i adjusted the temp back up to 100.2 and it is holding.  thanks for any help.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE HUMIDITY GETTING TOO HIGH DURING THE HATCH. AND AS FOR THE ONE WITH THE BAD LEG IT PROBABLY HAS SPRADDLE LEG. IF THE SURFACE THAT THEY WALK ON IS SLIPPERY THEY WILL ALL GET IT. WHEN THEIR FOOT SLIPS IT CAUSES THEIR HIP TO JUMP OUT OF PLACE, PUT THEM ON THICK PAPER TOWELS. SOME ON HERE TRY TO FIX THE LEG WITH BANDAIDS I'M NOT SURE HOW THOUGH .   GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HATCH  P.D. :)

I usually go about 3 days after the hatch starts....maybe 4 if something is happening and no bad smells are noticed...

and they use the bandaids kinda like handcuffs....the pad of the bandaid is about the right width for the quail...just pulls it's legs together and fold the 2 stick parts across the pad trapping it's legs there...it might work, and it might not, but worth a try....I hate putting them down
