Title: Ohio friends
Post by: Reeves on April 11, 2008, 07:11:49 PM
A group of Ohio friends went deer hunting and paired off in
twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone,
staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck.
"Where's Henry?" the others asked.
"Henry had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up
the trail," the successful hunter replied.
"You left Henry laying out there and carried the deer back?"
they inquired.
"A tough call," nodded the hunter. "But I figured no one is
going to steal Henry!"

I get a feeling of dejavu when reading that story.  Can't leave it in the woods for any length of time during deer season anymore, it's so warm that it would probably be bloated and have larva on it before you could get back to it.  Not counting the thieves.

I actually lost one of my first bow kills that way.  I even heard voices and laughter, but couldn't make myself believe a Kansas outdoorsman would do that.  I guess my Dad taught me too well, but forgot the "Don't never trust nobody" lesson.  I have since learned that one.  Repeatedly.
