Got my first Northern Bobwhite egg of the year on the 28th of April in southeastern Ohio.

Thanks, but no worries about me eating it. It looked like antiqued cracked white paint. This also would be her first egg ever. I should have took a picture and posted it before I tossed it, it was quite odd looking. It's amazing how far you can throw one of those babies! I mean eggs!

Don't you hate the mushy ones? I have also been pretty impressed about how far eggs can travel behind a stiff throw. Also been impressed by how easily they break in your hand when you're rearing back to chunk them!  |

Found one in the pen yesterday (3/20) in Southern Ohio. Almost 5 weeks earlier than last year.......  .........according to this post. |

I found a couple pheasant eggs impacted in mud yesterday. They are definitely late laying this years.

The wife tells me the Amherst have started a couple days ago.
Reeves likely are as well. She don't go in there, plus the hens hide them well. I'll have to check when I get home Sunday (?).

.we got our first mearns egg on the 3/21/08 they are inside heated and plenty of light so they are early we also have our first masked bobwhite fertile eggs in the incubator they have been laying for a coule of weeks but the first 12 or so were not fertile we now have 5 masked females laying and all are feetile soit looks like the males figured out what to do jim www.emeraldisleaviary.com |

Our first massked bobwhite have hatched out first fertile mearns are in the hatcher now our bobwhite that are outside have just laid there first eggs yesterday jim

Jim, I was just on your web site to see what all you have going on. I noticed your shipping boxes, They sure look great for shipping live birds in and hopefully are (USPS) will get them to there destination safely.

We use the wooden ones mostly for shipping parrots and finches on airlines they tend to be too heavy for USPS shippingJim

I don't have any breeders but I saw that some gambels that I released last year have paired up. Maybe I will have some wild gambels running around soon if it ever rains. 3rd driest season in 100 yrs. here in South Texas.
