What is your take on holding breeders over a second year. I am referring to Valley and Gamble.

It is my opinion they do best the 2nd year for those birds.

thanks for your reply. I am going to set up a test this spring to hatch eggs from first first year layers and second year layers. am not sure how to set the control groupe just yet.

My own experience is that you'll find better egg production and fertility in the two year olds.
