Came home to a blood bath.
All my pens are 33 inches off the ground and .5x.5 wire on wooden legs.
In the corners of 3 pens lay ed dead birds .
When i picked them up they had on legs.
Something had pulled their feet through and chewed them off.
These were Snow Flakes and Mexican Speckled about 30 each
This is the second time it has happened in about 2 years
The first time it was the Huns
We wrapped the wood legs with metal and that stopped it in those pins.
This time it happened to new pens that had not been wrapped yet.
Have live traps set all the time and nothing

Had that happen to me this year too.TennesseRed told me to put 1 inch chicken wire on the bottom of the the 2X4 so there is a cap between the bottom of the pen and floor so far this has worked no more fatalities.Good luck.

I have yet to see a Racoon that could resist a Honey Bun in a live trap. Guaranteed to catch.

It kina depends on what time of the year it is with coon they follow the food natural food in the middle of winter they will eat almost anything I like a "loud" bait jack mackerel, sardines , sweet things will work if you are not far away from the coons nose but most days "loud" has a bit more calling power cage traps have thier place and times but most days I use either a bridger 1.65 or a 160 / 220 conibear.  When trapping coon do not stop trapping after you only catch 1 their is nomally a family unit or 2 in a coupla hundred acres get rid of 12-20 and you will not see them for a while 2-8 months here stop trapping after  just catching 1 is much like peeing into the wind it gives a warm feeling but don,t change much LOL
