HI everyone!  I'm new to this forum, (although I've already done three posts, or some tiny number like that.)  I live near Edmonton Alberta, and have mostly chickens right now..... I'de like to get into game birds, right now I have one Male Lady Amherst pheasant,  and one male Hungarian Partridge.  My Dad bought them both for me at an auction, so I am lacking hens and coops.

Good thing you posted this.  Keeping chickens and game birds together (even on the same property, in separate pens) is not the best idea.  Chickens, as well as turkey and waterfowl can carry diseases with little or no effect to them, that can wipe out gamebirds, especially quail.  Do searches here, and elswhere for specifics.

You are doing things in the right order, pretty much.  It is possible to have them on same property, just more trouble with sanitation, and medication.

Thanks for the message.  I'll have to be really careful and put the cages really far apart

Nate, will not be far into the future and you'll eat those chickens and have nothing but Quail & Pheasants ! (I went through the same thing 153 years ago)

he lives in Alberta

OK, but that's no reason to go easy on him!

He's respectful, pays attention to what he reads, takes suggestions well, and writes in complete sentences.  Hell, I wouldn't care if he were from Samaria!

Good point !

I have the thought we may meet one day. Hope I can help him decide to get rid of those chickens and get into just Quail & Pheasants.

I may have to let some of my birds hatch some chicks......everyone likes free stuff !

(ya, ya, I know I'm being an "enable-r" !)
