We offer complete plans and instructions: 25 page booklet on how to build and operate your johhny house and get your birds trained to callback, 80 picture CD slide show of the construction project, and ready to stock complete units.

I looked at your post about johnny houses and am interested in how the water nipples perform.  Specifically in below freezing weather.  The float waterers are great even during an ice storm in that the birds peck the ice and make it just fine and when everything thaws nothing is broken or malfunctioning.  In the summer I like the idea of not having fouled water.

W.L. Jaggars,

Even though your concept and Idea looks good, you are lacking one thing.

You should also include in your advertisement Check with your State and Local Game Commission on the legalities of recall pens.

I know for a fact that recall pens are illegal in the State of WV.

Any game birds, in the State of WV, either released, or has escaped, that poses no threat, is considered property of the State of West Virginia.

I am willing to bet that there are other states that have these clauses in the licensing of wild game bird farms or wild game bird breeders.

In WV, even birds that are release for dog training, under a dog training license, who harbor either Bobwhite Quail or pigeons can not use a recall pen.

Thank you for the caution, we are building a new batch of plans and instructions and this is one of the addendums included.  In Texas you are required to hold a license, post a sign on the property, and band your birds.

In Ohio, you must first obtain your wild game bird license, and talk with your county wildlife officer about what you intend to do. Portable call back pens are stricly forbidden, however a stationary johnny house can be "approved" by your local enforcement officer.
