Some of my Bobwhites are making a "coughing" sound and I have recently lost two of them in the last three days. What could this possibly be and what treatment would anyone recommend to try to help? Thanks !!!

Are the coughing up blood, and do they shake their head when they cough? years ago I was working for a poultry company in arkansas, and we had an outbreak of laringo tracheaitis (don't know if that is spelled rite) but for short is is called LT. It wiped out almost half of the bird crop in a very short time. If you listen at nite while the birds are roosting, and they are coughing while roosting, then I would take one to the vet and have it checked out, as of for now, I would start them on some antibiotics and disenfect their pens.
