May have my first ground predator problem, been quite a year of firsts. Had 8 dead birds two days ago with a couple of them having their back halves eaten and a couple with heads popped off, then 5 again yesterday. I could not find any holes in the perimeter of the pen but last night I found a tunnel out in the middle of the pen, 40' from the closest edge. It comes up in a brushy area where I have one of the feeders and is near 3 of the dead birds I found. Does this sound like a weasel?
Anyways, I put a live trap at the tunnel exit but I doubt if they are dumb enough to go in it. Any ideas to get rid of weasels?
I know I have rats back again and have been working on that problem. Do you think rats would eat half a pheasant?
Thanks
