my brooder will not get warmer than 90 degrees and it's been on for a day... it's the brooder that comes with quail starter kit by gqf.  there are ventilation slots on all the sides and heat just leaks out, am i supposed to block off some of the ventilation?  it's in a temp controlled room that stays at about 65degrees.  am i  missing something here?  my research tells me to shoot for 95 to 100 degrees and like i said its constantly on and will not go above 90.  the thermostat with this unit is totally useless the way it is right now.... any ideas? thanks.....  first chicks in 3 days!

sadworld  Dose your brooder turn off or stay on all the time? I have 2 gqf brooders  and have never had any problems with them. and they are over 6 years old.i would keep the temp at 95 degrees  the 1st week then drop it by 5 degrees each week.try covering up the open spaces with news paper or something that will keep the heat within.

i'm sure your right about the brooder getting warmer if i close off some of the holes,  i just wasn't sure if that's what i should be doing.  3 of four sides are very open with slots all along so if i just leave one open it might be alright, i'll try that. thanks. matt.

it all depends on the humidity of the incubator  if your humidity is to high then remove 1 of the 2 vent plugs  Scot.
