When should my bobwhites start laying? I live in florida. How much light do they need to start laying? I know they need 17 hours of artifical light but how many hours of sunlight do they need or does they not effect them?

Usually around mid March early April. If you dont live in an environment where its 55-60 during the day and 20 at night you can get them to lay now. Add some extra light with a timer (20 minutes or so a day) until you get to 12-14 hours and you should have them laying in a few weeks. We started some of our birds the first week of January and they started laying in 10-12 days but I have them under full light and heat too.
